Controlling a computer remotely involves some complex configurations, which can take up valuable time. Chicken makes everything much easier. It is capable of establishing connections to any VNC server, over a network, without requiring too much information. The application works straight out of the box and it is distributed under the GNU General Public License, which means that it is absolutely free.

Chicken is based on a similar application, called "Chicken of the VNC", but it brings many improvements and fixes. To connect to a VNC server, on a remote computer, it is sufficient to specify the server's name, password and port, on the application's compact user interface. In addition, you may tick a few options, if you wish to view the remote desktop and nothing else, to allow other clients to connect to the VNC and to display the remote desktop in full screen mode. It is possible to define multiple servers and save them, along with their settings. Whenever you need to connect to a specific machine, you only need to select it, on the right side of the window and hit the Connect button.

The application is capable of connecting to remote machines, regardless of their operating systems. You can establish a connection between your Mac and Windows or Linux-powered PCs or even mobile devices. What's more, Chicken comes with key binding configuration options and mouse button emulation capabilities. It allows you to assign certain keys to the center and right mouse buttons, associate local keys with remote ones, increase or decrease the color resolution and more. The settings can be saved as profiles, which you may select in a drop menu, before connecting to a remote computer.

Pros

The application gives you the possibility of connecting to VNC servers without any effort. It is capable of connecting to servers on any platform. Also, Chicken allows you to configure key bindings, set up mouse button emulations and more.

Cons

You may have difficulties when connecting to Linux-powered machines, if certain drivers are out of date. Chicken's out of the box functionality gives you the possibility of viewing and controlling any remote machine, regardless of its operating system.
